Herbie Hancock - New CD Set For June.
Release Hot off the press is news that ‘The Imagine Project’ from legendary musician Herbie Hancock is scheduled for release on June 22, 2010. Using the universal language of music to express its central themes of peace and global responsibility, the album (and the documentary film that will accompany it) captures the collaborations which combine Hancock’s genre-defying vision with the music of cultures from around the world.
In common with his 2005 project ‘Possibilities’ the Grammy-winning Hancock has gathered together an eclectic mix of featured musicians to assist him in this venture and these include Seal, Jeff Beck, Dave Matthews, Lisa Hannigan, Susan Tedeschi, Chaka Khan, Marcus Miller and Wayne Shorter.
The documentary has been produced by Oscar winning filmmaker Alex Gibney whose credits include ‘Taxi To The Dark Side’ and tour dates will shortly be announced that coincide with Hancock’s 70th birthday. Indeed, with a career that covers half of the 20th century, Hancock shows no sign of slowing down as we move further into the 21st. He remains one of the major music figures of our time and his stated ambition for ‘The Imagine Project’ is that “the music will serve as a metaphor for the actions taken by the inhabitants of this wonderful planet and send out a call for world harmony on all levels”.
